![]() While still hoping to once find a port of CM for the FP2, for now I think it is more likely to get Android 6, so that at least more privacy settings will be available. I was actually shocked when getting my FP1, after using CM, how limited the user is with customizing the OS. Talking about flexibility or customization: Stupid things like this could easily be avoided, if you simply let user decide which shortcuts to use, instead of the developers. The point is that CM offers much more flexibility for the users, plus more privacy features. Probably, if a phone on the mass market would come with CM instead of regular Android, most users wouldn’t even realize the difference. I don’t think it lacks acceptance, I think most people are just afraid of flashing a custom ROM on their phone. That’s why I actually do not understand your point. (By the way, a better recovery mode will be great too - see request!)ĬyanogenMod is just a modified and expanded Android I’m pretty sure next releases will be great and the community will ports other rom and/or help you to improve user experience. However, thank you Fairphone for your job. Please consider some of this described functions as feature request to improve next FairphoneOS. You cannot neither install AdAway to prevent to display ads without root… I understand, but we need some things to counterbalance that (by defaut, for everyone - not only for geeks who will compile Fairphone OS without Google apps).Ībout FLOSS and freedom, if you like to put preinstalled apps (Google, iFixit), it could be nice to preinstall too F-Droid ( see request) and, why not, a bundle of alternative apps to Google softwares?Īnd about the launcher… they are also alternatives well designed maybe more convenient if you have many applications… I think the current launcher need some improvements to better fit to users… Privacy impact is maybe a good thing but a it is very limited to protect users from too large app permissions.īecause the FP2 come not rooted, you cant install Xposed and you dont have any possibility to control app permissions. FairphoneOS need to be an enhanced Android OS who reflects the ambition and philosophy of Fairphone…
